Lion

The lion, often referred to as the "king of the jungle," is one of the most powerful and majestic predators in the animal kingdom. Found primarily in Africa and a small population in India, lions are social big cats that live in prides consisting of up to 30 individuals.

Male lions are easily recognized by their impressive manes, which vary in size and color. These manes not only serve as a display of dominance but also provide some protection during fights. Lions are apex predators, hunting large herbivores such as zebras, buffalos, and antelopes. While lionesses do most of the hunting, males play a crucial role in defending the pride's territory from rivals.

Lion populations are declining due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching. Protecting their ecosystems and addressing these challenges are critical to ensuring their continued existence in the wild.
